Levi's Goodwill Campaign
San Francisco–based denim giant Levi Strauss & Co. kicked off a fund-raising campaign on April 24 to benefit Goodwill Industries. The campaign, dubbed “Take Your Jeans Off,” asks Levi’s customers to bring “gently worn denim” into participating Levi’s stores to exchange for a 20 percent discount on a new pair of full-priced Levi’s. The company is collecting jeans, jean jackets, jean skirts, jean shirts and other denim items that will be donated to Goodwill. The campaign runs through May 1 and was created to encourage participating in Levi’s annual “501 Day,” when company employees contribute more than 40,000 hours of community service. On May 1, Levi’s employees volunteer time to nonprofit organizations in their local communities, such as the Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly organization and the AIDS Memorial Grove. At Levi’s Union Square store in San Francisco, Goodwill assistant store managers will“shadow” Levi’s employees to learn about store operations andcustomer services.
