Coke's Trash-2-Tees
Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola are teaming up to launch the Coca-Cola Drink 2 Wear line of men’s and women’s T-shirts, made from a blend of cotton and recycled plastic bottles, or PET. The tees are screen-printed with slogans such as “Make Your Plastic Fantastic” and “Rehash Your Trash.” Each shirt will feature a label inside the neck indicating how many bottles were recycled to make the shirt. The men’s label reads “4 Inside,” and the women’s reads “3 Inside.” Some of the tees will be packaged inside plastic bottles, with point-of-purchase signage reminding consumers to recycle the bottle. Coca-Cola launched its sustainable-apparel and accessories collection last year under the brand “rPET,” which stands for “recycled PET.”
