Otis to Honor DreamWorks', Warner Brothers' Globe and Globe
Otis College of Art and Design hosted its annual benefit kickoff reception on March 19 with a cocktail party at DreamWorks Animation Studio in Glendale, Calif.
Otis President Samuel Hoi introduced the 2008 “Otis Creative Vision” award recipients: Anne Globe, head of worldwide marketing and consumer products for DreamWorks Animation, and Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros. worldwide consumer products.
The entertainment-industry power couple will be honored on May 3 at the 2008 Otis FashionShow Benefit Gala. “The ’Creative Vision’ award is given to individuals and companies whose creative and entrepreneurial vision has captured the spirit of the times and set a benchmark for the future,” Hoi said in a prepared statement. “Anne and Brad Globe have established themselves as two of the foremost entertainment marketing, licensing and merchandising executives in the film industry,” he added.
A sneak peek of student designs, which will appear in the upcoming benefit gala fashion show, was on display in the Dream- Works lagoon. Seventeen mannequins were dressed in “Valentino red” swimwear ensembles designed by Otis students under the mentorship of Otis alum Rod Beattie, swimwear designer for La Blanca. More than 1,000 guests are expected to attend the benefit gala, which also serves as a scholarship fund-raiser. Notable attendees at the event included Rosemary Brantley, founding chair of Otis’ fashion design program, and Elaine Goldsmith, who, with Brantley, founded the Otis Fashion Show Benefit Gala more than 25 years ago.
Also present at the kickoff party were Susan Crank, president of Lunada Bay; Roxanne Powell and Jason Johnson of The Disney Store ; and Steven Ehrlich, who designed the DreamWorks Animation Studio. In addition, executives from DreamWorks and Warner Bros. and Otis faculty and staff enjoyed the event. Tickets for Otis’ May 3 gala are on sale now. For more information, call (310) 665-6858. —N.
