N.Y. Fashion Week Parked Until 2010
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York will remain in Bryant Park for two more years thanks to a deal struck between show producers IMG Fashion and the New York City Parks Department and the Bryant Park Corp.
Last year, it looked like the week-long fashion event would have to move from its Midtown Manhattan location, and IMG began scouting new venues for the biannual shows. Now that the contract has been signed, IMG will continue to search for a location with help from the city.
“We couldn’t be happier,” said IMG Fashion Senior Vice President Fern Mallis in a statement. “The event is synonymous with Bryant Park, and though the search for a new location continues with the mayor’s office and Parks Department, we are happy that all parties will be able to continue to plan for upcoming events while new locations are explored by IMG in concert with the city.”
According to IMG, this is the longest-term contract ever signed with Bryant Park. —Alison A. Nieder
