Growing Larger
Redcats Group, the home-shopping arm of French luxury goods group PPR, is acquiring United Retail Group Inc., a retailer of large-size women’s fashion based in Rochelle Park, N.J., for $198.9 million. The deal comes on the heels of PPR’s acquisition in April of German athletic-apparel maker Puma. “This acquisition will strengthen Redcats USA’s position in the growing women’s plus-size apparel market,” said Thierry Falque-Pierrotin, Redcats Group’s chairman and chief executive. Under the terms of the deal, Redcats USA Inc. will offer $13.70 a share in cash for United Retail.
