Doneger's Wolfe Leads Material World Seminars
Trend authority David Wolfe of The Doneger Group will lead a cast of experts during the seminar series of the Material World New York fabrics, sourcing and technology show, set for Sept. 25–27 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
Doneger’s creative director will speak about “Changing Trends in Trending” during a 10 a.m. seminar on Sept. 27 at the show.
Wolfe has been with Doneger since 1990. He also spent 10 years at The Fashion Service, a trend-forecasting service he founded and managed. He was also creative director for I.M. International.
Additional seminars include a discussion on Taiwan’s green movement and how one company is recycling P.E.T. for use in the textile industry. The seminar will be led by Justin Huang, secretary general of the Taiwan Textile Federation, at 10 a.m. on Sept. 25. Later that day, Merrill Greene, vice president of StyleSight, will discuss “MegaTrends” at 11 a.m.
The noon keynote event will be conducted by a panel of brand managers who will lead a discussion on sustainability in the apparel and textiles markets. Cassidy Carlile of Milliken & Company, Monica DeVreese of Simple Shoes, Benjamin Lam of Fountain Set Inc., Mark Messura of Cotton Inc. and Marci Zaroff of Under the Canopy will participate.
At 2 p.m., Fred Isenberg of New Generation Computing will present a seminar on speed-to-market using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Tod Schulman of Pantone will discuss Winter 2008–2009 trends, also at 2 p.m. Laura McCann-Ramsey of Zweave Inc. will present a session on On-Demand PLM at 3 p.m. Textile Intelligence executives will discuss active and performance fabrics at 3:30 p.m. to conclude the Sept. 25 events.
At 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 26, Jennifer Marks of Home Textiles Today will talk about global home textiles. At the same time, Rick Ludolph of Productive Solutions LLC will lead a panel discussion on “Winning PLM Strategies,” featuring Lisa West of Maggy London, Bobbie Jo Clark of Yunique Solutions, Bernard Chaus of Donna Karan and consultant Lee Goldenberg.
At 11 a.m., David Shah of Metropolitan Publishing will talk about consumer trends in the home-furnishings market. Kurt Cavano of Tradecard will lead a noon talk on enhancing supply-chain infrastructures through value-added services. Also at noon is a panel discussion on eco-friendly fabrics led by executives from DuPont, United Knitting, Fila and Organic Exchange.
Jeanine Pesce of Promostyle Americas will present a 1 p.m. session on trends and silhouettes for 2008–2009. Jim Lovejoy of TC2 and Dan St. Louis of the Hosiery Technology Center will discuss “Balanced Sourcing” at 1:30 p.m. while Emmanuelle Linard of Edelkoort Inc. will lead a trend and colors event at 3 p.m.
A group of authorities representing African nations will wrap up the day’s series at 3:30 p.m. with a presentation on organic fabrics and the continent’s green agenda.
