Liza Stewart Showroom
California Market Center Suite B535 (213) 622-9669
Liza Stewart’s 2,400- square-foot location in the California Market Center is designed to be as internationally eclectic as the landscape of Los Angeles. A dividing brick wall and archway is an ode to Los Angeles’ Olvera Street, and Louis XIV French period–style furniture adds texture to the global flavor.
“What I wanted to do is create different environments within our room,” Stewart said, since some buyers spend the whole day in the showroom viewing multiple collections. “I think it frames the collections best.”
Stewart’s showroom has been in the California Market Center for 11 years. Her showroom roster includes the easy knit Carilyn Vaile Black Label and the bamboo fabric–based Carilyn Vaile Green Label line, New York–based Walter, New York–based Cynthia Steffe, Nougat London, Los Angeles–based Maria Bianca Nero, Los Angeles pant line Bendix and Los Angeles–based item tops line Mezon.
Collection-based lines are what Stewart knows best. Before she moved to Los Angeles 12 years ago, she worked in the Chicago sales showroom of her father, Marshall Stewart, who represented brands such as Nicole Miller, Calvin Klein, Halston, Andrea Jovine and Adrienne Vittadini. “That’s what [buyers] come to me for. It’s become our specialty because we understand collection merchandising and sales,” Stewart said. “It’s a different formula than just a jean line. You’re building a brand within your stores.”—Rhea Cortado
