L.A. Fashion Week Spring '08: J'aime Pressley
For more than three years, J’Aime Collection, a clothing label owned by actor and designer Jaime Pressley, produced knits and dresses for contemporary boutiques. On Oct. 15, J’Aime debuted its first full collection.
The Spring/Summer 2008 collection featured a wide range of styles, from swimwear to coats. It took its bow with a 37-look runway show at the Boulevard 3 nightclub in Hollywood.
The inspiration for the collection was contemporary looks as viewed through a prism of Palm Springs, Calif., styles. The emphasis was on earth-tone colors and silhouettes that dropped some of the body-hugging looks recently popular.
The collection also featured some nautical looks, with six pieces bearing prints with navy and white stripes. Another big theme to the collection was dresses. Pressley and the label’s collaborative designer, Renee Bardot, produced several dress silhouettes for this collection, including A-line dresses, halter-style dresses and a mini-dress.
The collection also featured high-waisted shorts, wide-legged pants and a cropped, puff-sleeved jacket. For blue-jean aficionados, the label will offer denim pant suits for its Fall 2008 collection. —Andrew Asch
