L.A. Fashion Week Spring '08: 2B Free
2B Free traded in its traditional matching sweat-suit sets for sexier 1980s leggings and hooded mini-dresses at its Spring 2008 fashion show, hosted by 944 magazine at nightclub Boulevard 3 in Hollywood on Oct. 14.
The ’80s vibe continued with legwarmers peppered on the models’ ankles and a few off-the-shoulder tops a la “Flashdance.” For Hollywood moms, designers and brothers Cedric and Yves Benaroch showed 2B Free’s kids’ clothes that made for cute coordinating mother-daughter ensembles. And while the collection expanded beyond the foundation of matching sweat suits, there were still plenty of 2B Free’s signature hoodie and sweat suit sets in bright colors of green and blue. Airbrushed graphics, such as angel wings on the back of a sweatshirt, and studded embellishment added visual interest.
Men’s designs didn’t stray far from the tried and true, such as a black sweat suit with white stitching and an all-over skull-print hoodie with matching shorts.
Celebrity models are a familiar feature at 2B Free’s shows. (Paris Hilton has appeared on their catwalks in the past.) This year was no exception, as girl-of-the-moment Kim Kardashian took to the runway in low-slung sweat pants and a matching hoodie. —Rhea Cortado
