Dolce Vita: Dresses to Go With Dolce#039;s Shoes

For Spring 2008, Emeryville, Calif.–based footwear manufacturer Dolce Vita will have a full collection of dresses to complement its pretty contemporary shoes. The dress line, which launched with a limited collection for Spring 2007, has been expanded to 60 pieces, including a more affordable jersey collection.

Designed by Anna McCraney, Dolce Vita’s dresses range from casual day dresses to modern cocktail dresses. The addition of jersey has made the line more accessible to retailers, McCraney said, but is in line with the brand’s bright, clean aesthetic. “The vibe is very bright and colorful with lots of angular lines. They’re fun going-out dresses,” McCraney said.

Fabrications for the line, which is made in Los Angeles, also include silk, satin, cotton and jersey. Wholesale prices range from $80 to $140 and from $30 to $60 for jersey pieces.

The deeper collection also sees the addition of more bottoms. Select skirts, skinnyleg pants and wide-leg trousers complement the line’s tops-heavy collection. Sold at Dolce Vita’s own stores and boutiques, including Milk and Fred Segal in Los Angeles, the dresses are targeting 20- to 40-year-old career-driven women working in creative fields, McCraney said. Dolce Vita is hoping its popular shoe line, which sells at Nordstrom, Pink Mascara and Shop Bop (www.shopbop.com), will help push sales. “She’s the same girl that’s wearing our shoes,” McCraney said.
