Knockoffs, Port Tour Part of AAFA Long Beach Event
“Knock it Off! Brands and the Counterfeiting Quandary,” a two-day seminar on counterfeiting and intellectual-property rights, will be part of the American Apparel & Footwear Association’s annual conference, set for Nov. 6–7 at the Westin Long Beach in Long Beach, Calif.
A tour of the Port of Long Beach’s container-examination station on Nov. 6 will kick off the event, giving attendees a look at how the Customs and Border Protection arm of the United States Department of Homeland Security conducts screenings and enforcement of shipments. Space is limited to 60 people.
On Nov. 7 Ray Tai, head of intellectual-property rights for Adidas, will discuss the sports brand’s property-rights strategies and applications within the retail and manufacturing marketplace.
Additional sessions will cover the economics of counterfeiting, partnerships with government and brand protection on a global scale. A panel presentation will discuss brand-protection strategies and design piracy.
