Porridge Goes Home
Designer Laura Stang-O’Dell is known for the quirky retro prints and sweet silhouettes in her contemporary line, Porridge. Now, Stang-O’Dell is bringing her sunny sensibility to the home with a new collection of bedding and pillows for Spring 2008. Made of Egyptian combed cotton and featuring Stang-O’Dell’s original prints, the Porridge Home collection includes duvet covers, fitted and flat sheets, pillow shams, throw pillows and sofa pillows. Florals, polka-dots and other prints in avocado, pink, yellow and blue are playful but sophisticated. Wholesale prices for the Porridge Home collection, which debuted this fall at the Designers and Agents trade show in Los Angeles, range from $36 for a throw pillow to $134 for a duvet cover and $164 for a sheet set.
Eventually, O’Dell said, she plans to expand beyond the bedroom into “any print-related fabric item for the home,” which means towels, curtains, napkins and beyond. Porridge Home retails online at the Porridge Home Web site and will be available at select home and contemporary boutiques.
