Anand Jon's Bail Set at $2.1m
Designer Anand Jon Alexander, in Los Angeles County Jail facing more than 50 charges of sexual assault, was granted a $2.1 million bail by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David S. Wesley during a Nov. 7 hearing.
Wesley required that Alexander wear a monitoring device and stay clear of any female under 21 years old. Jon is accused of assaulting about 20 young female models, some under 18, who are charging him with rape and other sexual crimes.
The Indian-born designer lives in Beverly Hills and is accused of luring models to his house with the aspiration of hiring them for fashion shows and editorials. Jon’s mother told India’s national newspaper The Hindu that the models were conspiring against Jon because they are “jealous.” She also said she was trying to sell the family home to raise money for Alexander’s bail. —Robert McAllister
