Pony Goes Ultrasuede
San Diego–based footwear and athletic apparel maker Pony International LLC is bowing two new shoe styles featuring Ultrasuede, according to Ultrasuede maker Toray Ultrasuede (America) Inc. According to the company, the Ultrasuede exceeded Pony’s standards for abrasion resistance. The shoes will feature the Ultrasuede certification mark. The Pony deal is part of Ultrasuede’s current strategy of revitalizing the Ultrasuede brand in the eyes of a more-active, youthful consumer. The company recently showed at the MAGIC Marketplace in an effort to position its products for the streetwear market.
