Blastmaster: Plans Hatched
Can a streetwear business incubator find the juice to get a hip-hop clothing line started? Andy Howell is ready to take that gamble. The founder of the La Jolla, Calif.–based Egg Projects Inc. brand incubator recently introduced Blastmaster, a T-shirt line also founded by hip-hop artist KRS-One.
The legendary emcee dropped by Egg Project’s California Market Center showroom on April 26, pictured above, to send off the label by rapping a few of his much-loved rhymes. Blastmaster will formally debut on May 20 at a KRS-One concert at New York’s Irving Plaza concert venue.
Howell said that the T-shirt and accessories line will be different from most celebrityendorsed clothing labels. KRS-One’s name will not be on the clothing label. But his lyrics should adorn the T-shirts and DJ bags.—Andrew Asch
