Rudes Named FIG's Man of the Year
The Fashion Industries Guild of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will bestow the honor of its “Man of the Year” award later this year on denim veteran George Rudes of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. The organization’s 51st annual fund-raising gala will take place Oct. 6 at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Pediatric Acute Care Unit at Cedars-Sinai.
“George is a true fashion entrepreneur, and he’s a very charitable guy. It’s about time we salute him for it,” said Kenny Weinbaum, the Guild’s president and last year’s recipient of the Man of the Year award. Rudes, who gives to a number of causes, including breast-cancer awareness and drug-rehabilitation programs, said he is hoping to raise a lot of money for the Guild. “It feels good to be in a position to raise funds for the Cedars-Sinai pediatric ward,” he said.
Founded in 1956, FIG has raised approximately $20 million for special programs at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with the help of apparel-industry professionals.
