L.A. Fashion Week Fall '07: DeHoghton
The concert at The Roxy in West Hollywood on March 22 marked the first time that the crew of friends making up the band Michael H and the Bashers had played together in public.
New York–based Michael Houghton had been playing in garage bands since he was a teenager. With a 1970s rock-star panache and a company of musician friends, Houghton said he dressed Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and members of the Rolling Stones in his original designs. Last year, he teamed up with Michael Lerner to launch his denim and tops line. DeHoghton denim is true to the designer’s own style of 1970s rock-band gear. On stage he accessorized his own fitted black jeans and blazer with a string of beads and suede moccasins. To show the jeans in action, Houghton screened a quick-cutting video, projected on mega screens throughout the venue, of models on the runway at a DeHoghton fashion show as well as backstage concert footage. —Rhea Cortado
