L.A. Fashion Week Fall '07: Carilyn Vaile
After her Fall/Holiday 2007 fashion show at the California Market Center on March 25, a hot pink–dressed Carilyn Vaile took a bow with one daughter resting on her hip and another daughter holding her hand down the runway.
It’s no wonder that Vaile’s collection of washable separates in flexible knits is perfect for multi-tasking moms and on-the-go young professionals alike. “It has to be versatile,” Vaile said. “I really want the woman to get a lot out of it.”
The show was divided into three acts, each showing a different take on Vaile’s signature easy-to-wear stretchy knits. The Black Label’s microfiber nylon/Lycra knit “city chic” separates opened with high-waist trousers, turtlenecks and layering tops that had the comfort of knits and a mature polish that was office-appropriate.
Vaile’s contemporary Green Label in woven bamboo and jersey bamboo was inspired by the cool peacefulness of the desert and was the most fashion-forward, including a strapless bubble short romper tied with floppy bows. The Pink Label’s special-occasion ensembles closed the show adding textural fabrics with a layered ball-gown skirt embellished with ribbon swirls at the hem and lacy turtlenecks that could be dressed up or down. —Rhea Cortado
