Parke & Ronen Swim Spring '08
The New York–based menswear line Parke & Ronen offered an uuml;ber-stylish option for Spring 2008. This was the second show in Miami for the design duo of Parke Lutter and Ronen Jehezkel, who showed on July 14. The sand-covered runway was the perfect setting to capture the season’s Moroccan theme. “Disco Marrakech” was a little bit disco and a little bit “rockin’ Moroccan,” according to Lutter. “We were inspired by two different scenes, and the collection came together where they overlap,” said the designer. The first scene was inspired by the pre-colonial Saharan people, the Bedouin tribes and the Berbers. The second scene was inspired by Ronen’s days in the Euro disco jet set of the 1970s. The collection included a mixture of swim trunks and skimpy briefs in 1970s-era psychedelic florals, Moroccan prints, colorful solids and stripes. Clothing such as lightweight tops, super-thin T-shirts and linen bottoms complemented the collection. —N. Jayne Seward
