Have Shop, Will Travel
This may be the next wave of convenience shopping.Los Angeles–based Hitch Couture can transport a physical boutique to places such as a sidewalk next to an art gallery, the grounds of a concert or even a consumer’s home. The secret of Hitch’s mobility is that the boutique rests on four wheels. Hitch founder Jeanne Landau built her fashion boutique in the body of a restored 1966 Airstream camper. The 19-square-foot store carries emerging Los Angeles– based designers including Rock-N-Role, Stella Neptune, Off Ramp and Flopi. Price points range from $25 for T-shirts to $320 for the boutique’s most expensive dress. Landau said she has no intention of opening a store that is nailed to the ground because it would get in the way of her traveling. For more information, visit www.hitchcouture.com.—Andrew Asch
