Verreos and Paul to Debut Nikolaki Spring '08 in San Diego
Next month designers Nick Verreos and David Paul will head to San Diego to debut their Resort/Spring ’08 Nikolaki collection at a party at the W San Diego hotel.
The Aug. 16 event, titled “Up Clothes and Personal,” is part of the upscale hotel’s “W Happenings” event series and will feature a showcase of Nikolaki evening gowns and cocktail dresses at the hotel’s rooftop bar, Beach. After the show, Verreos will serve drinks as the celebrity bartender in the hotel’s Living Room bar.

Verreos, who was one of the contestants in the second season of Bravo’s fashion reality show, “Project Runway,” also recently debuted his winning design for Orbit Gum. The designer was given two weeks to come up with designs for a “concept dress” and a “red-carpet dress” as part of a promotion for the gum maker’s newest flavor, mojito.
Verreos submitted 11 sketches, and Orbit selected a classic strapless cocktail dress in white silk duchesse satin. The dress bowed on the red carpet at the teen awards show “Premios Juventud” in Miami. The Univision Network broadcast the show on July 19. —Alison A. Nieder
