L.A. Fashion Awards Add Denim Category
Supima, maker of fine cotton, is partnering with the L.A. Fashion Awards to create the “Denim Designer of the Year” award. The third annual awards program, which highlights the city’s tastemakers and trend-setting designers, will take place Oct. 26 at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
“Supima is pleased to create this award to celebrate the excellence and innovation in denim,” said Buxton Midyette, Supima’s vice president of marketing, in a statement. “Designers continue to push boundaries and take denim into whole new looks, fits and end uses to meet consumer needs and desires.”
Nominees for the awards in six categories will be announced July 25 at the Standard Hotel. The nominee for the Supima “Denim Designer of the Year” award will be announced in August at a private event.
“From the founding of Levi’s at the turn of the last century to recent branding phenoms like True Religion and perpetual visionaries like Adriano Goldschmied, California is denim’s de facto home base,” said Jennifer Uner, the awards’ co-founder.
