Armstrong, Nike Team Up
Beaverton, Ore.–based Nike Inc. and cyclist Lance Armstrong launched the Livestrong Collection, which will raise funds for the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer-survivor programs. All of the profits from the sale of the collection’s apparel, footwear and accessories for men, women and children will be donated to the foundation, which was founded by the Tour de France winner and cancer survivor in 1997. Nike began working with the foundation in 2004, when it created the Livestrong wristband in homage to Armstrong’s personal mantra. More than 70 million wristbands have been sold, according to Nike. The Livestrong Collection will feature performance apparel inspired by Armstrong, including pieces designed for training, running and cycling. The collection will debut this fall online at www.niketown.com and at www.livestrong.com.
