Fruit of the Loom Buys VF Intimates
Greensboro, N.C.–based VF Corp. inked a deal with Fruit of the Loom to sell its global intimates business to the Bowling Green, Ky.–based subsidiary of Omaha, Neb.–based Berkshire-Hathaway Inc. for $350 million in cash. VF’s intimates brands include Vanity Fair, Lily of France, Vassarette, Bestform, Curvation, Lou, Gemma and Belcor. The sale will allow VF to focus on its jeans, outerwear and sportswear businesses, which include Wrangler, Lee and The North Face. Fruit of the Loom will operate the new brands under a new, wholly owned subsidiary called Vanity Fair Brands.
