Denim Line Aims to Stamp Out Hunger in Africa
The people at Los Angeles–based IT Jeans have been pretty busy lately.
They have not only come up with a new contemporary collection of denim, but they have also decided to take 10 percent of the line’s total sales and donate it to a project to end hunger in Africa.
The new collection, called IT in the Loop, will be ready for Fall 2007, with retail prices ranging from $90 to $120. The collection was created, said Chief Executive Kimmy Song, to raise awareness about the people in Africa who are battling hunger.
The company created its own Comfort to Need Project, which is partnering with The Hunger Project, a charitable foundation addressing the day-to-day lives of starving people around the world.
“I travel a lot and realized there’s so much need in the world,” Song said. “IT Jeans is so blessed. I really want to help people, and I want to challenge our industry, from small to mediumsized companies, to realize their social responsibility. We’d like to start in a small way.”
