Major Apparel Importers' Association to Meet in Los Angeles
Key U.S. government officials who influence the apparel and textile import market will be speaking at a one-day meeting in Los Angeles organized by the United States Association of Importers of Textiles and Apparel (USA-ITA).
USA-ITA is a non-profit group in New York that lobbies Congress on quota and tariff matters and keeps its members up-to-date on import regulations.
At the Feb. 15 conference, scheduled at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel, attendees can learn about U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s new apparel and textile detention policies; antidumping and countervailing duty threats on goods from China, Vietnam and other countries; new rules on product safety; and how to understand the rules of the various preference programs.
Speakers include Matt Priest, head of the Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements and the deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce; Scott Quesenberry, special textile negotiator for the U.S. Trade Representative’s office; Janet Labuda, director of the textile and apparel policy and programs division of Customs and Border Protection; Julie Hughes, senior vice president of USA-ITA; and Mary Jo Muoio, president of the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America.
