Dress for Success Launches Young-Executives Division

Dress for Success L.A., a nonprofit agency that supplies disadvantaged women with clothing and educational services, has established Young Executives for Success (Y.E.S.), a new division made up of young female executives whose goal is to enhance the mission of Dress for Success.

Founder Janet Lavender has appointed Nichole Addario DiModica, the owner of e-commerce site MyGirlfriendsCloset.com, as chairwoman of Y.E.S.

MyGirlfriendsCloset.com is a hosted online platform for designers and retailers looking to sell their lines without the expense of building their own e-commerce sites.

“Aligning Dress for Success L.A. with MyGirlfriends Closet.com is a perfect fit,” said Lavender. “MyGirlfriends Closet.com has everything women are looking for, with options to sell their new and gently used clothing, shopping and so much more.”

Added DiModica: “I’m thrilled to be partnered with Dress for Success to give back to women in a way that benefits them personally, while also benefiting society as a whole. I spent months researching a charitable partner whose mission was aligned with ours.”

Dress for Success L.A. was founded by Lavender more than 10 years ago as a vehicle for disadvantaged women looking to get back into the work force. Lavender herself was once homeless and on welfare after losing her job in the finance industry. She spent a year in a women’s shelter, earning a business degree.

Following her experience, she established a Los Angeles branch of Dress for Success, which is aided by the local apparel industry through donations of clothing and other products.
