SPORTY SHORTS: Los Angeles–based Andrew Christian has a 10-year-old sportswear line and 5-year-old swimwear line under his belt. Combining aspects of both, his new underwear line hits all the right notes and has become the breakthrough star of his business. Christian estimates that the underwear line, which launched for Spring 2007, now accounts for approximately 60 percent of total sales. “We’re doing all the same sort of streetwear trends and just translating it into underwear,” Christian said. The underwear’s low rise makes for a no-show waistband when paired with premium jeans, and edgy rocker graphics, which Christian borrowed from his T-shirts, add flair. Next up for Christian is women’s underwear with the same sporty feeling.—Rhea Cortado
