Som, Bastian Join Blass
Designer Peter Som has been named creative director of Bill Blass Ltd. Inc.’s women’s division. Michael Bastian has been named creative director for the company’s menswear division. In his new position, Som will head up Bill Blass’ women’s design teams for the company’s licensed and wholly owned businesses. Prabal Gurung, who has been design director for the women’s ready-to-wear collection for the past four years, will remain in that position and report to Som. In addition to overseeing Bill Blass’ licensed and wholly owned menswear lines, Bastian will also design a new men’s high-end collection for the brand. Both Som and Bastian will continue designing for their own eponymous brands. Som worked as a design assistant for Bill Blass before launching his own line for Spring 2001. Before launching his line in 2006, Bastian was the men’s fashion director for Bergdorf Goodman.
