Nano Horizons Rolls Out Anti-Odor Wool
State College, Penn.–based Nano Horizons Inc. and Philadelphia-based G.J. Littlewood and Son Inc. have rolled out a line of high-performance wool staple fiber enhanced with Nano’s anti-odor and antimicrobial additives.
The line will be distributed under the Wool- Pro and SmartSilver labels and is aimed at all wool sewn goods including socks, sweaters, blankets and performance apparel. Littlewood and Son will serve as Nano’s stock dyer.
Nano executives said the relationship creates key advantages and market firsts for manufacturers seeking performance wool to satisfy consumer demand for high-performance wool products. Among them are the availability of wool fiber with full Berry Amendment compliance and production availability of natural wool fiber with high-performance functionality that addresses odors created by bacterial growth.
“The effectiveness of SmartSilver-enhanced wool combined with color and intimately blended with other high performance fibers—all domestically produced—makes this endeavor very exciting,” said Richard Littlewood, vice president of Littlewood and Son.
“This will enable woolens manufacturers to produce high-performance antimicrobial woolens that are easier to care for and in turn provide owners with high-performance and environmentally responsible products,” added Dennis Schneider, director of sales and marketing for Nano Horizons.—R.M.
