Pooltradeshow Goes Eco
The Pooltradeshow in Las Vegas has been a destination for home-grown and directional designers to showcase their wares for specialty boutique buyers since its launch six years ago. This August, Pool will feature eco-friendly and socially conscious brands in a new area called s(eco)nd.
S(eco)nd will include exhibitors selected by Pool that practice fair trade and socially conscious business or employ environmentally friendly, sustainable and recycled materials. Labels such as Re:volve, Kim White handbags, LizSaintsing, Beck(y), Rise Up, Twice Shy, Inner Child and Livity, which have shown at past Pool trade shows, are confirmed.
Mindy Wiener, director of operations for Pool and the creator of s(eco)nd, stressed that the timing was right for the addition of an area that highlighted environmentally and socially conscious brands.
“Now there is no doubt that [people] businesses have become more aware and are implementing changes that are impacting the industry,” said Wiener in a prepared statement. “By introducing the thought that it only takes a second to change the world, s(eco)nd will allow us to take a second look at how we do business and will encourage our audience to rethink their most basic day-to-day habits.”
