D&A Goes Green
Designers and Agents is partnering with Good magazine to launch a new Go Green initiative and Designers and Agents Goes Green, a new section of the bicoastal trade show focused on eco-friendly products.
The Green show will launch in New York at the May 5–7 run of D&A and in Los Angeles at the June 8–10 run of the show and will feature an edited selection of fashion and lifestyle products, as well as energy-efficient products and educational materials about global sustainability.
Show organizers plan to practice what they preach, as well, by introducing several ecoconscious practices at the shows, including enlisting the sponsorship of Fiji Water, improving recycling efforts, and using eco-friendly cleaning supplies and biodegradable plates and utensils.
Organizers will kick off the eco effort with a party hosted by Good magazine, to be held in Los Angeles and New York, where Josh Dorfman, author of the upcoming book The Lazy Environmentalist, will be among the guests. Dorfman hosts the Sirius Radio program “The Lazy Environmentalist” and will serve as a guest expert to co-curate D&A’s eco-chic capsule. Also, the New York and Los AngelesD&A shows will feature installations by artist David Cohen, creator of The Seed Project. Cohen’s work involves distributing wheat grass seeds to people all over the world who then plant the seeds and e-mail them to ArtWorld magazine, which will create a “virtual field” of wheat grass. Bags of the Seed Project’s wheat grass seeds will be given to all show attendees.
