Doneger Expands West Coast Office
The Doneger Group opened its West Coast office in 2005 and ever since has had growing pains.
So the company is expanding its office by 25 percent, to about 4,000 square feet, to keep up with the number of client visits and meetings being held at its secondfloor space in the California Market Center. The staff of six full-time people will remain the same.
“The trips our clients are making to Los Angeles continue to grow. We felt we needed to have more space to service our clients,” said Abbey Doneger, president of the 61-year-old New York company that does trend forecasting and merchandising strategies for retailers and the fashion community.
The office is headed by Janine Blain, who said the number of Doneger clients coming to the West Coast has grown.
“This is the furthering of the message that California is important to most retailers today, especially in the contemporary market. So much is based in Los Angeles, and so many of the trends emerge from here,” she said.
The West Coast office started out small and has grown at a measured pace, particularly since September, when The Doneger Group acquired Here & There, a color- and trend-forecasting company.
“We are trying to handle our expansion in an orderly way,” said Doneger, whose company has about 140 people in New York. “We want to grow in a comfortable manner, one step at a time.”
The Doneger Group will host a trend report during the April 10–12 Los Angeles Majors Market at 8 a.m. on April 10 in the CMC Fashion Theater. For more information, call (213) 627-8306.
