DMC Hires Contemporary Merchandising Executive
The Dallas Market Center is adding a streetwear section to its wholesale venue, and has hired an executive to manage its growing contemporary resources.
Lynn Bahr, formerly director of leasing of 14th floor showrooms, has been promoted to director of contemporary merchandising, a new position. She will report to Robbin Wells, executive vice president of leasing.
Bahr will continue to manage the 14th floor and will oversee the new Studio Fifteen, a juried shared showroom featuring emerging talent, including urban and streetwear resources, set to launch during the Oct. 26–29 market.
Bahr also will help continue the DMC’s expansion into the contemporary arena. The center has the largest showcase of contemporary lines outside of Los Angeles, DMC executives said.
“Lynn understands the personality of the contemporary business and its importance to a total marketplace,” Wells said. “Coming from retail, she can anticipate which direction will help our retailers stay profitable with the resources that are selling in specialty stores.”
Before coming to the DMC, Bahr held positions as director of operations at the Fashion Industry Gallery (FIG Dallas), store manager for Tootsie’s Dallas and a regional manager at J. Tiras. —Robert McAllister
