Stylefile: Falling Forward
With a scorching summer sun bearing down on Las Vegas, buyers gathered inside the Las Vegas Convention Center during the Aug. 28–31 run of the MAGIC Marketplace to view a sampling of exhibitors’ Spring 2007 offerings.
Stylefile, the fashion show dedicated to men’s and women’s fashions, touched on a variety of trends. Preppy styles kicked off the show, with plaids and all-over prints in the spotlight. Classics such as crisp blazers and polo tops were paired with punchy neon colors.
A second group took inspiration from the great outdoors. Woodsy colors and workwear were updated with wholesome fabrics and sporty accessories. Army jackets, windbreakers and vests were paired with distressed khakis, cargo pants and denim.
Golf-inspired looks for him and her took on a playful, sexy edge for Spring. Slim shorts and layered, body-conscious silhouettes in bright colors added a dose of spice to the green. Men’s classic argyle sweaters showed unexpected color combinations.
Traditional shapes in neutral tones made for understated luxury. Subtle metallics of gold and bronze added a dressed-up sensibility to taupe linen, tweed and canvas. Pareddown silhouettes included trapeze dresses, trousers and trench coats.
Black-and-white evening gowns closed the show. Sequins, pleats and polka dots added visual interest to the stark color palette. Layers of chiffon and tulle added volume to the floor-length confections. —Erin Barajas
