P. Ka Bu Returns to the Runway
Independent runway show series P. Ka Bu will have a new Fashion District location for its next run at Los Angeles Fashion Week in October.
For Spring ’07, P. Ka Bu will return to the runway and trunk show format of its previous seasons. (Last season, it focused on one designer, Maggie Barry.)
Its runway shows and trunk show will be held in tents at Broadway and Olympic boulevards, one block west of the California Market Center.
Jose Angel, founder and executive producer of P. Ka Bu Enterprises LLC, has struck a deal with the Joe’s Parking facility, where the tented P. Ka Bu Pavilion will be erected.
“The idea is to create a convenient and efficient system that gives buyers and the media access to great independent fashion and lifestyle labels,” Angel said in a statement. “Within the P. Ka Bu framework, retailers can do their buying with us during regular business and partake in the excitement of the runway after the buying day is done. Everybody wins.”
The 4-year-old Fashion Week event will feature 12 runway shows during the three-day runway series. P. Ka Bu will celebrate its four-year anniversary on opening day, Oct. 20, with a party followed by a featured runway show.
P. Ka Bu Trunk & Trade will include 50 fashion and lifestyle exhibitors within a 13,600-square-foot exhibition space Oct. 19–22. The first three days will be restricted to trade business only; on Oct. 22, it will be open to the public.
