Rodeo Drive's Svend Ingerslev, 68
Svend Ingerslev, a member of the Board of Directors of the Rodeo Drive Committee and the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, emphasized bringing a human touch to the stylish fashion street’s events such as the Rodeo Drive Concours D’Elegance. He died Oct. 20 from injuries sustained in a car accident. He was 68 years old.
His friends and colleagues on the Rodeo Drive Committee remembered a thoughtful and a graceful man, according to Randy Soto, the committee’s president. “He was a remarkable man on Rodeo. He had a personal touch informed with style and a sense of kindness,” he said.
The Rodeo Drive Committee is an association of landowners and businesses on Rodeo that helps produce marketing efforts for the street’s special events such as the Concours D’Elegance. The annual Father’s Day event is an exotic car show that Ingerslev helped guide. Soto said that attendance has grown more than 15 percent since it was founded eight years ago.
Ingerslev was store director of the Lladroacute; boutique on Rodeo but had also worked at the Polo Ralph Lauren store in the early 1990s, and he later managed the Brioni boutique. His seat on the board of directors will remain vacant until the next election in June 2007, Soto said.
Ingerslev, a native of Denmark, is survived by his wife, Lis; two sons, Christian and Lars; and one grandchild, Madelyn. A memorial service will be held on Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Danish Lutheran Church in Yorba Linda, Calif. Condolences may be sent to Lis Ingerslev and family, 1557 Lakewood Way, Upland, CA, 91786.
Donations in Ingerslev’s name can be made to the Danish Lutheran Church & Cultural Center or Operation Smile. —Andrew Asch
