L.A. Fashion Week Spring '07: Eveline Morel
“A Walk In The Park” was the working name of the first fashion show for the Los Angeles–based Eveline Morel line. But the 16-look show didn’t offer the typical casual looks.
Instead, the 3-year-old line showed bloomers, a crocheted coat dress and an A-line dress trimmed in sea shells at the neckline.
The art-inspired looks debuted Oct. 19 at EM & Co., the boutique Morel owns on Los Angeles’ stylish West Third Street.
“Sophisticated but with a raw edge” is the way Morel described her garments. An important theme of the collection was the jumper, which featured a style range from bloomers to wide, flowing pants. The collection’s color choices were also muted, working with shades of creams and whites.
The walk-in-the-park theme played with a certain retro appeal, with a 1960s influence brought home by the mod-style bob worn by the models. However, she also drew inspiration from the recent past. The crocheted coat dress was one of the top-selling items from her Fall 2006 season. She brought the dress back for a return engagement with the Spring line. —Andrew Asch
