Mothballing the Mills
Delta Woodside Industries Inc., which operates Delta Mills and Delta Mills Marketing, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Code on Oct. 13. The company, based in Fountain Inn, S.C., will either sell or liquidate its assets. Delta Mills is expected to operate its mill in Beattie and its Delta 3 finishing plant in coming weeks to fill customers’ orders. Before the bankruptcy filing, the company closed two other plants this year. The board of directors had been negotiating to sell the company to a potential buyer, but the two sides were unable to agree on terms.
