Gerber Debuts Fashion Lifecycle Software

Tolland, Conn.–based Gerber Technology has released its long-awaited Fashion Lifecycle Management (FLM) product development software to the general trade. The multi-tiered suite falls within the increasingly popular PLM (product lifecycle management) category of software, aimed at helping companies streamline their pre-production processes using Internet-based collaboration.

Gerber’s FLM expands on the company’s spec management application, WebPDM, with a workflow engine that gives managers ’real-time’ updates on everything from sample tracking to lab dips. The system operates on three platforms centered around design, data management and information collaboration. Each level operates on a plug-and-play system so users can incorporate one or all levels, depending on their needs, said Gerber executives.

Users can identify and eliminate tasks that fail to add value, immediately see what part of the process needs attention, and streamline product lifecycles to reduce costs and increase speed-to-market, said Gerber President John Hancock. —Robert McAllister
