Eddie Bauer Sold
Redmond, Wash.–based lifestyle retailer Eddie Bauer Holdings Inc. will become part of Eddie B. Holdings Corp., a company owned by affiliates of Sun Capital Partners Inc. and Golden Gate Capital. Eddie B. Holding Corp. will pay $9.25 per share plus the assumption of approximately $328 million for Eddie Bauer Holdings in a deal estimated to be worth approximately $614 million. Eddie Bauer Holdings Chief Executive Officer Fabian Mansson said the company board determined that the deal will give the company the capital and time it needs to turn the company around and expand based on the strength of the Eddie Bauer brand. Sun Capital Partners affiliated portfolio includes Mervyn’s, Anchor Blue Retail Group, Dim Branded Apparel and Most. Golden Gate Capital’s investments include direct marketer Catalog Holdings.
