Style Is in the Details
There always seems to be another detail to be placed on the back pocket of a denim pant. The extra details on the Meg pant, designed by Los Angeles–based Taverniti So Jeans, are helping make the denim one of the best-selling brands at Let’s Go Clothing, according to Sinisa Ristic, manager/buyer for the 20-year-old fashion boutique in La Jolla, Calif.
Taverniti So’s Meg is a men’s jean with seven pockets. But the key details are the double pockets on the back of the jeans. The top pockets are shaped in a slit style. They are connected to the bottom pocket with a metal button. The Meg jean retails for $220 at Let’s Go. It also sells very well at the L.A. Fairchild Denim Bar, said Laura Fairchild, the owner of the boutique in Cardiff by the Sea, which is located 15 minutes north of La Jolla.
“It’s innovative. No one else is doing that kind of pocket,” Fairchild said. “They’re different, but it’s not too out there.”
Fairchild shopped at Let’s Go Clothing on her first day of college in 1990. The store has developed a reputation for being one of the most fashion-forward boutiques in the San Diego area. “They’re not afraid to try new things,” Fairchild said.
Ristic has worked at Let’s Go since 1999 and has watched the fashion scene change in San Diego. It went from a place where the fashion consumer was far behind the trends to one that has been more style conscious in the past couple of years. Ristic said that the change is most palpable in the Let’s Go’s men’s section. In 1999 the store offered one rack of men’s clothes. Now the bottom floor of the 5,000-square-foot boutique is devoted to men’s fashions. —Andrew Asch
