Randy Calls All Party Girls
Main Street in Huntington Beach, Calif., has been called the Rodeo Drive of surf retailing, but Alan Hall thinks an important demographic has been mostly overlooked on this thoroughfare. It’s the nightclub crowd.
When it opens before the end of 2006, Hall’s new boutique, Randy, will serve women aged 16 to 35, who put the sizzle in Orange County’s nightlife. It will be located at 200 Main St., a block east of Jack’s Surfboards. It will also be a stone’s throw from clubwear store Catwalk, which has been a familiar presence on Main Street for many years. Hall believes that there is room for two clubwear stores, because demand is growing.
“If you walk up Main Street, there are all of these guys handing out leaflets for parties,” he said. Naturally, his marketers will distribute leaflets for the Randy boutique at nightclubs. Randy will specialize in clubwear as well as lingerie from sources such as Playboy. The boutique also will offer some contemporary lines.
Hall also owns and runs contemporary boutiques Muse and Eden in Laguna Beach, Calif., and Long Beach, Calif., respectively. He plans to open two more stores in 2007. However, his new stores most likely will be contemporary boutiques. They’ll leave the lingerie and clubwear to his Randy boutiques. In addition to the upcoming one in Huntington Beach, Hall opened a Randy clubwear boutique in Laguna Beach, which has been doing business since 1990.
