Nike Names New e-Commerce VP

Nike, Inc. is bolstering its e-commerce plans. The Beaverton, Ore.–based sports and fitness company has named Chris Shimojima to the newly created position of vice president of global e-commerce. He will be responsible for the company’s global e-commerce strategy covering the Nike, Converse and Cole Haan brands.

Shimojima most recently was a vice president at Sears and worked in various capacities at Prudential Financial, Kozmo.com, AT&T Consumer Communication Services and Pepsi-Cola prior to that.

“Our e-commerce sites represent an incredible opportunity, a way to build deeper consumer connections and support the overall growth of Nike and our Nike, Inc. brand portfolio. Chris will accelerate our efforts to create an integrated global e-commerce strategy across our portfolio and deliver consistent and compelling brand experiences for consumers,” said Nike president Mark G. Parker in a statement announcing the appointment.

Other Nike’s e-commerce offerings include Nike ID, which gives consumers the opportunity to design their own Nike product. Nike also recently re-launched its global www.nikestore.com e-commerce site with new leading-edge technology. —Robert McAllister
