Golden Gate Picks Up Haband
San Francisco–based private-equity investment firm Golden Gate Capital acquired specialty retailer Haband Inc., a direct-mail and online retailer for the age-50- and-older baby-boomer market. Haband was acquired by Golden Gate’s portfolio company, Catalog Holdings Inc., which owns several catalog and bricks-and-mortar retailers, including Spiegel, Newport News, Carabella, AB Lambdin, Norm Thompson, Solutions, Sahalie, Appleseed’s, Draper’s & Damon’s and The Tog Shop. Haband was founded in 1925 and is based in Oakland, N.J., where it will continue to operate. The company also has a distribution center in Eatonton, Ga., a call center in Athens, Ga., and a mailprocessing center in Peckville, Pa.
