N.Y. Gets New French Show
La Federation Francaise Du Pret a Porter Feminin, organizers of the Pret a Porter Paris biannual runway shows in Paris, have launched a new trade show in the United States that will feature international bridge and contemporary apparel and accessories collections.
Platform 2 will bow Sept. 18–20 at the historic Roseland Ballroom in midtown Manhattan. The juried show will feature 60 collections and, according to organizers, will maintain the same level of creativity and wear-ability of the FFPAPF’s 2-year-old designer trade show, The Train, which is held biannually at the Terminal Stores in New York’s Chelsea district.
About 50 percent of Platform 2’s exhibitors will come from Europe, about 30 percent will be from North America and the remaining 20 percent will hail from Asia and elsewhere.
“Many companies with excellent design and craftsmanship want to exhibit at The Train but just don’t fit because their price points are lower than designer,” said FFPAPF Chairman Jean-Pierre Mocho in a prepared statement. “It was really a pity not to be able to introduce them to the U.S. market. We are delighted to now provide a new platform—Platform 2—especially for them.”
For more information about the show, call (212) 925-6349. A Web site, www.platform2newyork.com, will launch soon.
