Saks to Stay in Mission Viejo
The 100,000-square-foot Saks Fifth Avenue store in The Shops at Mission Viejo will remain open, according to Birmingham, Ala.–based Saks Inc., the upscale retailer’s parent company. Saks announced plans in late 2004 to close its California stores in Mission Viejo and Palos Verdes. “The Mission Viejo store can achieve our profitability standards if appropriate resources are dedicated to this location,” said Steve Sadove, Saks’ chief executive officer. Saks said it still plans to shutter the 100,000- square-foot store in Palos Verdes.
