Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall '06: Moda Management Presents Peter Lau and Annie Lin
Moda Management introduced two rising star designers from Hong Kong to Los Angeles March 20 at its show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios. The move was intended to give the Western market exposure to what is coming out of Asia and create opportunities for Asian designers to expand globally.
Peter Lau and Annie Lin featured their works in an East meets West–themed show focusing on Lau’s sexy boudoir fashions and Lin’s more refined silhouettes. Both designers’ strengths were in details with hand embroidery and luxury trims.
Lin, who owns the Anniewho label in Europe and Asia, offered classic Western dresses detailed with Oriental prints and medallions. But she also showed more-unique pieces such as a peasant dress trimmed with fur.
Lau focused on lacy bodices and bustiers and corseted silhouettes, mixing old Chinese constructions with Western styling.
