Jeantex Continues on Growth Track
Jeantex Group Inc., the Huntington Beach, Calif.–based manufacturer of denim for such brands as Stronghold Jeans, Blue Cult, Guess and Lucky, is planning to expand its private-label manufacturing capacity by purchasing several apparel manufacturers in Vietnam.
The company has manufacturing facilities in Los Angeles, but a deal to buy an apparel manufacturing plant in Egypt recently fell through.
Jeantex also is set on growing its branded business. In December, the company acquired a majority stake in high-end clothing design company Yves Castaldi Corp., which designs and markets apparel under the Just Yves, I Generation and Instinct Yves brands. Recently, Jeantex announced plans to collaborate with Von Dutch founder and Stronghold jeans coowner Michael Cassel on a new denim line.
“We have been in talks with a number of potential acquisition candidates and strategic alliance partners in Vietnam during the last few months and expect to finalize a couple of transactions with them in the very near future,” said Henry Fahman, Jeantex’s chairman.
The Vietnamese companies in dialogue with Jeantex include VinaWorld Production & Services Co., Nhat Tan Co. and Thai Son S.P. Co. —Erin Barajas
