Gehry's Tiffany
The curvy steel waves on Frank I. Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall have made it a Los Angeles landmark.
Now, the architect is using similar shapes for a line of jewelry created for Tiffany & Co. called Frank Gehry’s Premier Collection. The luxury retailer held a gala celebration for the line March 26 at its Rodeo Drive location in Beverly Hills.
The 200 block of Rodeo was closed for the party, where John Legend, winner of the 2006 Grammy for best new artist, and Patti LaBelle performed for a starstudded audience that included Gehry, Anjelica Huston, Portia de Rossi, Ellen De- Generes, Christina Ricci and Owen Wilson.
While Tiffany works with a team of in-house designers, Gehry is the first independent designer to make a jewelry line for the luxury retailer in 25 years. The line features sterling silver, diamonds and gemstones, along with unique materials such as pernambuco wood and cocholong stone. —Andrew Asch
